Theme: Early Access

Early access is an arrangement whereby a patient can be treated with an unregistered (personalised) medicine, if there are no proven effective drugs and it is impossible to treat the patient in an investigational setting.

This position paper explores the potential of early access to improve access to personalised medicines and is summarised by the question: How can early access contribute to improving timely and sustainable access to value driven and data driven personalised medicine?

Theme: Education

Education is an important way to learn what PHC is, what it can (potentially) bring and what it takes to make it happen. Of course, learning needs are different for different stakeholders and this is exactly what has been explored in this project.
This report makes clear that we are dealing with considerable knowledge gaps. Those gaps are immediately a call to action.

Topic: Data

In everyday clinical practice, doctors and patients are challenged to make treatment decisions. A question that often arises is: "will the drug work for me, doctor"? The aim of this experiment is to create a model that predicts the outcome of immunotherapy treatment in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using machine learning.

Topic: Data

PNA, as knowledge engineers, mapped out the various possibilities for a 'Data Sharing Platform' and discussed these possibilities with various stakeholders in the field. This report describes the highlights of the research, gives an overview of the options that were considered, and formulates a clear recommendation, including some next steps.

Theme: the value of PHC

The Dutch healthcare system is in a state of flux. From one and the same treatment for all, we are moving towards care that is tailored to the individual. This form of care is called precision medicine.

Personalised care can greatly improve diagnostics and treatments, reducing the burden of disease by 15 to 30%. Dutch people can gain three to seven years in good health that are now lost to disease or premature death.

Theme: Implementation

An important reason for the difficult implementation of PHC is the fact that a new medical model also requires adaptation or adjustment of a large part of the healthcare system. What is needed is a resilient, flexible, experimenting and learning (together an evolving) system, in which optimal use is made of all available (new) data, tools and knowledge, and applications in the field of PHC.
